INFOCATION
Infocation, is a term I created to describe the longing for guiding information in the westernized modern world and the closely linked systematic belief behind the daily usage of Tech & Big Data.
The longing for guidance is readable in online magazine articels which speak about self-improvement ; it is hearable in podcasts whenever an "expert" is talking about improving your life by following his 5 simple steps, and it is visible whenever a new diet is trending.
Instead of a God or spirits, people are asking now their technological devices for guidance regarding their personal way of how they should live their life.
In this way, technological development is replacing former religious fields in society by the invisible workings of algorithms and AI.
Information is the guidance granted by the unseen God in the machine.
